I know, it seems like an unreasonable thing to do, but hear me out.

A few months back, I was on the verge of taking out a second mortgage on my home.

The plan?

To buy a vacant piece of land and build a charming bunkie to rent out on Airbnb.

The allure of a steady stream of income from vacationers and travelers was enticing, and I was convinced it was the perfect investment to secure my financial future.

The benefits of owning an Airbnb rental property are undeniable.

It offers a flexible income stream, potential tax deductions, and the chance to meet fascinating people from all over the world.

Plus, in beautiful Central & Southern Ontario, there's no shortage of eager guests looking for unique stays.

However, as I dug deeper into the current economic climate, I realized that now might not be the ideal time to take such a significant financial leap.

Interest rates are on the rise, property values are fluctuating, and the uncertainty in the market made the prospect of a second mortgage daunting.

The risk seemed to outweigh the potential reward.

In the end, we decided to spend this year building out our deck and gazebo in the backyard, with plans to build a bunkie at the other end of our 3 acre property.
